Can happiness still be found amid the abuse and discrimination we face in our society? Do faith and hope have a place in a world where oppression and injustice are in power?

I Can’t Breathe is a fictional story set during the period when a video of George Floyd’s final moments went viral, along with his dying words, “I Can’t Breathe.” Its global significance is depicted in the story, as well as how people were emboldened to speak out against discrimination by mobilizing demonstrations and marches.

Khushboo, the novel’s protagonist and a lawyer, is sympathetic to women’s difficulties and has assisted many women who have been caught in abusive and oppressive relationships. The novel also briefly covers racism in its different forms, such as workplace sexual harassment, negligence in care homes, and so on. Most individuals encounter this. The narrative demonstrates that some individuals are capable of dealing with it, while others, such as Aadrika, a sensitive and frail woman, are not.

The novel is best understood in the context of the events in Khushboo and Aadrika’s lives, including how Anil, Khushboo’s father, deceives, betrays, and abandons them, but even in the midst of the darkness, there are hues of a rainbow of love and hope that gleam now and then all across the book.
