The US Review of Books (USRB) applauded Karma Sammy, the author of “Karma: My Journey” because “she has composed her memoir with emotion and the clear wish to share her challenges and spiritual wisdom”

Karma Sammy’s “Karma: My Journey” is praised by Barbara Bamberger Scott of the US Review of Books, acknowledging that “even after facing near-death traumas, seeing two of her seven children pass away, and making a major change by leaving her birthplace to settle in the US, Sammy and her family continue practicing Christian faith and action.”

She later gives her heart to Christ as she grows in her steadfast confidence in God’s glory. Karma Sammy is open and truthful as she discusses her deepening relationship with Christianity. Her life story is filled with uplifting examples of yielding to God’s plan, but it also has tragedy because of the loss of her family. Karma’s story is a heartfelt, engrossing personal narrative. Her goal is to preach the good news that Jesus Christ is the sole solution to the issues that people in today’s world confront.

Author Sammy endured numerous traumatic hardships while steadfastly clinging to her Christian beliefs. She was raised in Trinidad and Tobago’s local culture, her father’s Indian faith, and her mother’s Catholic beliefs as a result of her humble upbringing. When the author was in her teens and confronted with an unwelcomed arranged marriage, bizarre, seemingly real visions and physical sensations that made her scream would start to manifest.

She briefly lost her sight, and she frequently appeared to be in a coma. Her parents sought advice from physicians, Hindu and Catholic priests, as well as local sages who used various kinds of voodoo and herbal remedies. Yet she continued to suffer. Sammy was miraculously healed when the family started going to an evangelical Christian church, and she later gave a testimony about her terrifying experiences and her gratitude to God. As a result, she refused to follow convention and marry the guy she loved rather than the one who had been chosen for her. They both move to Oregon, where they presently reside, collaborating in their love for the Lord.

Here’s an excerpt from the US Review of Books that highlights:

She has composed her memoir with emotion and the clear wish to share her challenges and spiritual wisdom with a wide audience. She vividly recounts amazing positive occurrences, such as being given a home and a car when they first immigrated (both by strangers), encouraging them to firmly root their lives in their new homeland and to plant churches in their region as well as reaching beyond the immediate area to preach and share their convictions. Sammy’s adventures, imbued with a Christian vision, would make a lively focus for individual and group study.”
