“It was then that my alcoholism returned and slowly took over my life. I was alone, grieving, and desperately trying to find my way. I somehow thought that there would be comfort from the wine I would consume. There was not. Instead, it exacerbated my depression and I then experienced two and a half years of insanity.“

Author Reputation Press has published “The Gift of Sobriety: A Spiritual Transformation” by Rose B. This is a memoir of Rose B., the author, and her battle with alcoholism. Furthermore, it is a journal of the author’s life, which is as unexpected and chaotic as the story it recounts. Rose had a rough life filled with challenges such as separations and remarriages, illnesses and deaths of loved ones, challenging relationships, domestic abuse, despair, and numerous attempts at suicide. The book is now available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and the ARP website.
“The Gift of Sobriety: A Spiritual Transformation” describes Rose’s gradual descent into alcoholism over a 45-year period. Starting out as a moderate drinker for many years, her descent into the depths of depression and despair of alcoholism was exacerbated by the death of a spouse of 20 years. Retired and alone, she started abusing alcohol. This led to suicidal ideation and eventually to outpatient treatment.
However, it was only in the rooms of Alcoholics Anonymous that she finally found the solution she needed. This book describes her first nine months in AA; what she experienced, thought, and felt. It takes the reader deeply into the spiritual transformation that this 12-step program offers. This book is helpful to those who struggle with their drinking and want to quit. Those in recovery can relate to the chapters, and it may be used as a book study in groups.
