“More bottles of San Miguel beer and Ginebra San Miguel were chilled, ready for use. Spirits continued flowing, as well as pork kabobs for pulutan. Again I unzipped the melodion’s deep-blue case to provide music and entertainment…”

Author Reputation Press is honored to publish Arcadio M. Morada, Jr.’s book entitled “Like the Moon, Mr. Purple”. This is a book telling the story of Mr. Purple, the author himself. “Like the Moon, Mr. Purple” is now available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and the ARP website.
Mr. Arcadio Morada, Jr., was born and raised in the Philippines, where he received his bachelor’s degree in education and taught in Catholic schools for several years until moving to the United States in 1992. In Texas, he worked as a certified instructor in elementary mathematics (grades 1-8) and elementary self-contained (grades 1-8). He also had a credential in religious education, guidance, and counseling from the Mother of Life Center in Quezon City, Philippines, as well as a religion certification from the Diocese of Brownsville, Texas.
Until his retirement in 2018, he worked as a veteran educator for the Brownsville Independent School District, the Diocese of Brownsville, and the Los Fresnos Consolidated Independent School District. Mr. Purple presently lives in Woodside, New York, and Camalig, Albay, Philippines, after 44 years of teaching experience.
“Like the Moon, Mr. Purple” is a book that consists of stories from the author’s experience and simple living. God creates human families and gives them the ability to tell their own stories. The Morada Clan of Bicol, therefore, like any family in the world, cannot claim a monopoly on life’s blessings and crucibles. Mr. Morada wanted to tell his peculiar tales. Stories like these are neither perfect nor grandiose. The imperfections and simplicity of their lives make their stories interesting and relatable.
Mr. Morada is known as “Mr. Purple” at his work in Texas, a person from an obscure corner of the Third World and an educator with his bio, love affair, work exploits, bittersweet memoir, and family history replete with actual events and genuine people, all rolled into one. With the pandemic as a backdrop, here is a look back at the itsy-bitsy events that form the collective tale of my family and me—and my pursuit of the American Dream.
