Benji Cole of CBS Radio interviews the author of “Cappuccino with Grandma”, Karen Rich Franklin
The author of “Cappuccino with Grandma”, Karen Rich Franklin, was interviewed by Benji Cole of CBS Radio. They delve into the author’s inspiration and message upon writing it.
Karen Rich Franklin lives in California, USA, with her husband and two children. She cooks, gardens, cans fruits and vegetables, and occasionally sews, so she uses all the life skills her grandma taught her.
The author’s book, “Cappuccino with Grandma”, is a special narrative that she wrote to present the beautiful moments she has with her grandmother. It exemplifies their love for one another as they drink the orange cappuccino her grandmother made.
It makes the reader want to experience and feel such loving moments. Interestingly, in the narrator’s artistic nature, she employs nice pictorial representations such as the Rialto Bridge, the City of Venice, San Marco Piazza, etc. These memorable pictures make the story appealing, enjoyable, interesting, and permanent.
The language she uses is simple and understandable, with figures of speech evident in her unique use of repetition; “sip, sip” in almost all of the tables. This piece will be enjoyed by children. Make this short story available to your child to enjoy the beauty of storytelling and feel Grandma’s love.
During the interview, it was stated that the book was written for an intergenerational audience to bridge the gap between our younger and older generations. As most of the older generation was immersed in society’s traditional culture, this forces them to share their differences and catch up on what was left.
