Racism and healthcare disparities have always been problems in the black community, especially in small country towns.
The author, Dr. Jasper Fullard Jr., came from a very poor family of eleven children, a poor educational environment, low self-esteem, and no Black professionals except for Black teachers to inspire him and other Blacks in the community; but at the age of twelve, he promised his mother that one day he would become a doctor so that Blacks would not have to suffer from the lack of adequate health care. The promise to his mother was “an impossible dream.”
By reading “The Impossible Dream”, you will learn how the miracles of God navigated the author’s crooked journey and how the impossible was made possible, and how he was able to obtain a Bachelor of Science, a Master of Science, and two years on a Ph.D. program before completing a medical degree. Along with other healthcare providers, he was able to organize a not-for-profit organization to decrease healthcare disparities in the Black community.
Dr. Fullard Jr. hopes that the readers will receive inspiration and will recognize the role that faith in God played, the miracle that occurred in overcoming the struggle, and the many obstacles that he faced. By reading this, you will gain strength and courage and be inspired to overcome your challenges and struggles in life. The promise to his mother was what drove and pushed him along this long, crooked journey.
