The much-anticipated annual Los Angeles Times Festival of Books 2023 was held on April 22–23, 2023. It was attended by nearly 500 authors and hundreds of exhibitors. The festival was launched to connect individuals who read books with those who write them. The range of book genres exhibited at the festival captivated readers of all ages. Peter J. Bylsma spent ten years serving in various Christian agencies before working thirty years in government positions at the international, federal, state, and local levels. He was also an accomplished athlete and a secondary school teacher. During his time as a data scientist and program analyst, he researched many topics in an objective and non-partisan manner and summarized the issues and results for busy leaders. He has authored many reports and articles related to public policy and organizational effectiveness across multiple disciplines.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology from Wheaton College (IL) as magna cum laude. He then earned his master’s degree in public administration and doctorate in educational leadership and policy from the University of Washington (Seattle). He has lived in seven states and in the Netherlands, Korea, Malaysia, and Germany. He now lives in the Puget Sound region of Washington State.
After the author published The Short Bible, it became clear that a shorter version was needed that used simple language. “The Simplified Short Bible: A Chronological Summary of the Old and New Testaments” was written for those who are at least 10 years old and those with limited time. It summarizes all 66 books of the Old and New Testament in 24 short, easy-to-read chapters and captures the Bible’s epic stories, characters, and main ideas.
This book was displayed at the 2022 Frankfurt International Book Fair at the Frankfurt Trade Fair Grounds in Frankfurt, Germany. The Frankfurt Book Fair is the biggest book fair in the world, both in terms of the number of publishing houses present and the number of professional and public attendees. It is regarded as the most significant book fair in the world for worldwide business and trading.
