“Ruth grew up in a church, where the preachers and the mothers taught them that sex outside of marriage was wrong, men always said words that made her feel beautiful. Well, until they got what they wanted. When they learned that she was pregnant they would always leave her with the child. This made her feel betrayed. All she wanted was somebody to love her. Was that so hard?”

In a small rural town in Savannah, Georgia, lives the Jones family. At first glance, they appear to be a strong, faithful group, despite their almost constant struggle with poverty. It appeared that this family was knitted together with love.
About a year after the birth of Jackie, something happened that caused Ruth to be afraid to say anything. But when she decided to talk, all her fears became a reality. The love of her life, her fiancé Matt, walked out on her. Falling into despair, she begins to wonder if she will be able to find the strength she needs to move forward.
