The US Review of Books recently announced the much-awaited results for the 2024 Eric Hoffer Book Award.
“Treasures of Darkness” by Coby McGee, published by Author Reputation Press, was one of the nominees for the 2024 Eric Hoffer Book Award. It was commended by Barbara Bamberger of the US Review of Books, highlighting that “McGee, a Texas businessman, has a true talent for weaving words, mining often traumatic examples from his experience to produce straightforward, spiritually based advice to readers. As told from a Christian standpoint, his childhood was one of abuse and confusion, his adulthood one of achievement mixed with emotional chaos and often extremely grim, self-destructive imagery. Yet the narrative clearly shows that these times of darkness, mingled with his personal determination and vibrant faith, have brought him to a place of peace. Eric Hoffer Book Award honors the memory of the great American philosopher Eric Hoffer by highlighting salient writing, as well as the independent spirit of small publishers. Since its establishment, the Hoffer has become one of the largest international book awards for small, academic, and independent presses.
The US Review of Books supports the Eric Hoffer Project by publishing the results of the annual Eric Hoffer Award for Books. The Eric Hoffer Award is judged by a separate panel, under the direction of the Eric Hoffer Project.
Coby McGee is a Texas businessman, father of three adult children, and has walked with Jesus for the last five decades. Having grown up in a broken home and under the curse of sameness and fear, he sought out the deeper truths of life through his relationship with Jesus Christ.

The LATFOB is considered to be one of the world’s most significant literary gatherings. It has been held every year since 1996 with the goal of bringing together the people who create books and the people who love to read them. It is attended by more than 550 authors, celebrities, storytellers, and hundreds of exhibitors.
Lastly, this masterpiece was displayed at the Frankfurt Book Fair 2023 in Frankfurt, Germany, on October 18–22, 2023. It is reportedly known as the world’s largest trade fair for books and opened its doors to participants around the globe celebrating books and their authors.
