Trick Or Read: Books to Enjoy in All Seasons

How do you celebrate Halloween every year? Are you the type to go out and do tricks or treats? Or do you prefer to stay at home and read some books? Either of those is okay, as we celebrate it in different ways. However, not just horror and Gothic-themed books can make your Halloween more enjoyable and thrilling, but also “books for all” can make it even better. Consider yourself reading a random book in a dimly lit room with a few candy treats on the table nearby. That will be awesome and scary at the same time.

Halloween is not all about going out in your favorite costume, attending a party, or going house to house to ask for a treat. Sometimes some people prefer to stay at home, in their rooms, and read something spine-tingling. Or some read spooky children’s stories and try to scare them. That sounded like more fun to do.

Just a Quick Spooky Trivia:

Halloween originated during the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain. Halloween is celebrated every October 31st, the evening before All Saints’ Day. The Celts, who lived in what is now Ireland, the United Kingdom, and northern France 2,000 years ago, believed that on Samhain, the dead returned to earth. People gathered on a sacred night to kindle bonfires, offer sacrifices, and pay respects to the dead.

Around the 7th century, with the birth of Christianity and the development of the Roman Empire, the Pope converted this pagan feast into All Saints’ Day, or All Hallows’ Day (now Halloween, meaning Evening of the Saints).

Later, this tradition was brought to the United States by European immigrants, where it evolved into a fun and spooky-sweet American Halloween.
