The author, Donald D. Joye, is also a professor at Villanova University. And since he was thirteen, he’s been happily involved with classical music. He moved to Philadelphia to raise his three boys with his wife, Claudia, after growing up on Long Island, New York and went to college in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. This book he wrote is dedicated to two significant people in his life: his oldest son and his friend, Dr. Douglas D. Feaver.
The book, “The Hawk of Yonezawa: Historical Fiction with J.S. Bach,” is not just a historical fiction book; it has a touch of fantasy. It doesn’t end with a musical adventure as it has time traveling and some exciting stuff.
Bach, who traveled far just to watch the concert of George Fredric Handel, ended up missing the event as his coach broke off and its wheel fell off. He decided to go back as his trip was completely ruined. However, as he traveled back, he met two people: a young mother and a twelve-year-old child. They found out that he’s a musician and knows how to play the organ, so they invited him to fix the one sitting in their church. Bach sweetly refused. As his coach broke down again, Bach woke up in a dream together with the kid and the mother in a different setting.
They said music doesn’t grow old, just like Bach’s music reaches every listener’s heart and soul. It’s eternal and will always be alive in any form.
